Identification with characters...
Aug. 5th, 2010 09:46 pmDay 15 - A character who you can relate to the most
There are many characters I relate to in books, tv shows, and comics. It's surprisingly hard to think of characters in movies. I relate more, for example, to the Serenity crew in the TV show than in the movie. And attributes that tend to make me relate - besides general herism and being likable - are usually missing. The only bisexual characters I can think of in movies are trivialized, villainous, or weirdos. And women in movies are often much less than I would want to be - less intelligent, less heroic. Too bad there hasn't been a movie about Captain Jack Harkness.
There's Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird. There's Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings. Both based on books.
And Mary Shelley in Haunted Summer - not so much because I related to her in that movie, but because I do in general.
