The library is our house of intellect, our transcendental university, with one exception: no one graduates from a library. No one possibly can, and no one should. - Vartan Gregorian

Morning: went to Three Tarts with [livejournal.com profile] maaseru to buy two beautiful birthday cakes for Sheila's birthday: one lemon cake, one chocolate cake. Then we went to breakfast at Rockin' Johnny's at Westgate. It was a beautiful warm, sunny spring day. Lots of tulips. Lots of little green leaves sprouting on trees.

Noon: Went with Yolande to the Mandarin Ogilvie Restaurant, where we had dim sum with Marion and Vicky. I had congee - wonderful. No squid, but a delicious meal nonetheless.

Then we went to Costco, where I got food for the weekend (and for the rest of Sheila's party - Caesar salad, pork ribs). On going home, I got ready for the party and talked about Bujold and Dunnett novels on my various mailing lists online.

Then my guests arrived: our guest of honour, Sheila; Tasia and Peter, [livejournal.com profile] gamergrrl and Jim, Starwolf, Beulah, Yolande, and [livejournal.com profile] maaseru, who didn't stay. I was afraid all those people wouldn't fit into my living room, but they did - and special thanks to Beulah, who brought two extra chairs.

We talked about all sorts of things, mostly not fannish stuff. I enjoyed myself, and I think Sheila did, too.
