fajrdrako: ([John Barrowman])

If you're too afraid of going astray, you won't go anywhere. - Terry Pratchett, in A Hat Full of Sky

fajrdrako: ([John Barrowman])

[livejournal.com profile] pfyre posted an excellent interview with John Barrowman from The Scotsman on Sunday. I always have a fondness for The Scotsman because of the connection with Alistair Dunnett; nice to see it focus on Barrowman, and nice to read it while listening (with happy self-indulgence) to his new CD.

Anyway... I loved his answers. Particularly his light answer with overtones:
What would you do if you ruled the world?

I would sit all of the world leaders down in one room together in their underpants and let them see each other exposed. Then I would have someone come in and tell them how they are screwing everything up, before letting them fight it out. They'd have a mud wrestle.
And the man votes Labour. So cool. I also liked:
What do you wish you'd never done?

I don't regret. If you do something and it goes wrong you learn from it and you move on.
I had to look up Jamie Redknapp. I can see the appeal.

Just finished A Hat Full of Sky by Terry Pratchett. Loved it, of course. Tiffany Aching is my second-favourite Pratchett character, after Sam Vimes. And no doubt Moist von Lipwig comes third.

Now, I have never been a big fan of Granny Weatherwax before this, but I loved seeing her through Tiffanys's eyes in this book. Granny Weatherwax was wonderful, and I loved the way Tiffany learned to understand her. And I love the way Tiffany can see through other people's hypocrisy, and still be kind.

I'm not sure which Pratchett book to turn to next. Making Money, perhaps?
