This item looked at first as if it might have some substance to it, but really doesn't have much, except what we already knew: everyone hopes Torchwood series three will be successful, and everyone hopes there will be more Torchwood beyond that.

What I found really interesting was the assumption that Russell T Davies is really into it now. His influence wasn't much in evidence in series 1 and 2; he only actually wrote "Everything Changes", and the aspects of his writing that I most admire were notably absent from the series as a whole. I was hoping that, since he isn't doing Doctor Who (or so he says), Davies would be turning his attention to Torchwood.

All this metatextual suspense, with the big question of "when is Torchwood series 3 actually airing?" still unanswered.

This evening I did my first work in a new free-lance job: setting up and maintaining computers. My friend Sheila, who owns a company called Computertamers, has hired me on.

Of course I'm still learning how to do it; I'm a sort of apprentice at present. But she left me with the clients to do the last parts of the set-up and training, and it went fine, and the clients were impressed by my ability to know what to click. More than they ought to have been, but hey.... If they had been grouchy and critical I might not be happy about this job, but as it is, I left the place feeling pretty happy. I got to show off the computer skills I have, and made the clients happy. The best part? Teaching then how to play scrabble. I knew it was all a success when they didn't want to stop.
