I got this from [livejournal.com profile] gypsylady:

Same numbers as [livejournal.com profile] gypsylady got... and I'm wondering why I got precisely those numbers. I'd have expected 50/50, or maybe the figures reversed. Huh.

Truth is, I don't think you can apply numbers of any sort of scale to sexual orientation. I've never thought the Kinsey scale ever meant much of anything, either.

There has to be a line about quaint categories in there somewhere - !

I woke up about 6:30 a.m. to the sound of a loud snowplough a few feet from my head. My bedroom is next to the front doors of the apartment building; the head of my bed is under the window.

Half-asleep, I had a dialogue in my head that went like this:

Do they have to do that? ...Yes.

Do they have to do that now? At 6:30 in the morning? ...Yes.

Do they have to do that a few inches from my head? ...Yes.

Can I sleep some more? ...No.

It snowed all day. Suddenly it was much warmer than it had been; warm enough for the snow to be a all slushy and mushy and wet. I was splashed many times. There was a sheen of slush on the sidewalks, and though I physically didn't have much trouble walking, it was a psychological ordeal. I was terrified of falling. I tried to walk boldly, but kept hanging on to walls, signs, and railings. Instant phobia! The walking was tiring and difficult for both balance and flexibility of the Foot, but good for me, on the whole, I think. I walked to the bank and back, and it took me a little longer than usual, but I did it.

On the way home, I went to the Post Office and picked up the book I'd ordered: Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale by Russell T Davies and Benjamin Cook. It looks magnificent. [livejournal.com profile] maaseru met me there - the Post Office is in a drugstore and we both needed to buy things there. We each got one thing we didn't need, but love: a small square alarm clock for $4.99, that tells time, temperature, and date, in shining bright colours - in blue, green, orange and red, depending on function. I am in love with my lovely new colourful clock.

Then it got more complicated for a bit, but we ended up going to the bank and paying off all my debts and then some. I say that so casually, as if it were an ordinary occurrance. You can't imagine how good that feels. Or maybe you can.

Then home, where [livejournal.com profile] auriaephiala was patiently waiting for me. We lounged on my sofa and watched a wonderful DVD: Andrew Lloyd Webber: Masterpiece, which is a concert performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's music in The Great Hall Of The People, Beijing. Call it "the best of Andrew Lloyd Webber", with music played by the Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra.

Gorgeous.

I know most of this music very well, but it amused me how accustomed I am to hearing most of it in John Barrowman's voice. He, unfortunately, was not there, but his gal-pal Elaine Paige was one of the stars. She sang beautifully, too, but I was most impressed by Sandy Lam. She said she'd never sung sounds from musicals before. Hard to believe, since she did it so smoothly. I enjoyed Kris Phillips' performance, too, especially of "Sunset Boulevard". His style and enunciation on that song was quite unlike Barrowman's.

The little feathered guys also loved the music, and sang along to all of it.

We then watched the 'behind the scenes' extras on the DVD, about how everything went wrong during rehearsals and before the performance, but came out all right in the end.

So then we tried picking our favourite songs and sections. [livejournal.com profile] auriaephiala said she liked Cats best. I think my favourite is Phantom of the Opera. I also have a certain fascination for Sunset Boulevard, which I have never seen.
