I got this from [livejournal.com profile] gypsylady:

Same numbers as [livejournal.com profile] gypsylady got... and I'm wondering why I got precisely those numbers. I'd have expected 50/50, or maybe the figures reversed. Huh.

Truth is, I don't think you can apply numbers of any sort of scale to sexual orientation. I've never thought the Kinsey scale ever meant much of anything, either.

There has to be a line about quaint categories in there somewhere - !

My impression is that most people like the sexuality they've got best. Which I suppose is a good thing for most of us.

I'm straight like a very straight thing.

Hee - many people are. Which I always find hard to believe, but that's one of the mysterious of life, right? What makes us as we are. John Barrowman even had a TV show about it... and nobody's got the answers.

Yeah, I don't really get it, either. I used to say that I'm bisexual, because I just honestly didn't- and still don't- care whether the person I'm attracted to is male or female. But fact is, I'm just not attracted to women, so I guess that makes me straight.

I'd say that honestly describes me, too.

Well, I often am attracted to women, and I wouldn't know how to quantify or measure it, either way. Sometimes I'm attracted to people, and their gender is pretty much irrelevant.

See, I think that's what it should be like. But for me, well, it just doesn't seem to work that way because looking back, I am, and always have been, attracted solely to men.

Nothing you can do about that. Go with instinct.

I got this:

but I had to make up an answer for one question, as it didn't give an option for never having had sex.

I sort of had to fake a few of them too, since "does not apply" was not one of the options. Which is yet another reason for me to be skeptical of the results of this one!

For me, I would say it was an 'emotional orientation' grid. (And pretty accurate, as I would describe myself as emotionally bi with a stronger leaning towards women.)

Yeah.... I can't really measure or quantify a difference, either way. Attractive people are attractive people, regardless.... And I'm not really talking here about whether they are physically attractive. I mean attractive personalities.

I had to sort of make up a few answers, too. Eh. It would be interesting to take that test (or one like it, as long as it was the same one) every five years for several decades. I imagine for a lot of people the results would slide around.

I suspect the same. Circumstances change. People change.

Eh. I tried, but the questions just sucked too hard to get a decent answer. There were no options for trans-minded folk, fluid genders and/or sexualities. I like people dammit! Not genders! It. Just is a bit of a bug bear of mine.

Yes. They were way too narrow in all their categories - and no options for 'this doesn't apply'.

There were no options for trans-minded folk, fluid genders and/or sexualities.

No - it was an either/or quiz that doesn't really apply to us who don't see gender as binary code.

I like people dammit! Not genders! It. Just is a bit of a bug bear of mine.

I agree with you absolutely. Even if you ignore all the fluidity and flexibility of gender and individual circumstance, there's an assumption here that we are attracted to a person's shape, not their personality. I'd say the personality comes first - if I love a person, I'll love their body, whatever it may be like.
