How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?

The Canadian How do you solve a problem like Maria? came to its end tonight, with ultimate triumph going to Elicia. I was surprised - though certainly not displeased. I thought Janna would win, but that's probably just because I was rooting for her.

Elicia is really quite adorable with her expressive eyes and big smile, and it amuses me that she is so Canadian. They all were, really. The British actors in the London equivalent were all full of competitive spirit and tears, while these Canadians were all into loving each other, sharing the moment, and showing grace when they lost. Made me really quite proud of them - not just for their singing and dancing talent.

I had voted for Janna all along, who came in second. Interestingly, she came in first in the popularity poll on the CBC website, but still didn't win the role as Maria. It was nice to see John Barrowman give her a big hug and words of encouragement at the end.
