I just read the list of the top 100 Hot Guys from afterelton.com, and am of course pleased to see John Barrowman in the #2 spot. Right behind Jake Gyllenhall, by a narrow margin, which shows good taste on the voters' part. And John's cheeky comment: "I’m thrilled with the results. Who wouldn’t want to come in behind Jake Gyllenhaal?" Point. I've heard him say before how he finds Gyllenhall really sexy. Well. Who wouldn't?

And love the quote from Gareth David-Lloyd, who was #6: "I understand I'm underneath John Barrowman, which seems to happen quite a lot. Maybe, next year, Ianto can be on top." I suspect David-Lloyd is taking Barrowman lessons in smart-ass sexiness. Bad influence, in the nicest way. And even better:
How does David-Lloyd feel about being one half of television’s most visible same-sex couples? In our interview with him he explained, "I’m one of these people of that age where it’s just not an issue, and it never has been." Now that's sexy.
Indeed. Though I don't think it's a matter of age; it's a matter of temperament.

As with most such lists, I hadn't heard of a lot of the people featured, and a fair number I find most unattractive. But the others - well. Aside from Barrowman and Gyllenhall, I would put on my own list Clive Owen (who is #71), Gerard Butler #41, Johnny Depp #40, Milo Ventimiglia #38, Jonathan Rhys Meyers #36, David Tennant #33, Daniel Craig #16 and David Beckham #12, on my list. And I might add, that's a mighty fine picture of Jamie Bamber in a towel at #35. And good to see Chad Allen as #56.

On a hunch that afterellen.com might have posted their new 2008 list too - and they have - I am happy to see Sarah Shahi at #7, Lena Headey #10, Keira Knightley at #31 (though I wouldn't know her from this picture), Katee Sachoff #33, Kate Beckinsale #40, Alyson Hannigan #59, Kristen Bell #71, and Grace Park #90 (though I'd put her at #2). Some of the others I don't like, but most of them I've simply never seen.

I wonder why afterelton.com counted down from #100 and afterellen.com counted up from #1. Is there some deep gender-differentiation dichotomy there? (I wish I knew a similar site for bi people - is there one?)

Sometimes I think some of my posts need a "shallowness" warning. But what's wrong with liking to look at beautiful people?
