A few interesting links came my way this morning:

An American TV ad that is more entertaining than most. I hate ads on TV; I think they are a waste of time and serve no useful purpose (least of all to the advertisers) and there must be a better way to run TV stations. But. Occasionally there's a good one that shows a shred of intelligence or artistry or imagination.

And Early English Books Online - very cool.

And information about a map of Paris in Lymond's time.

I'm becoming more and more eager to get my new computer. This one is giving me mild but accellerating trouble; if I suddenly disappear from LJ or online, it would be because of that. How long will it take to cross over from one computer to the next? I don't know.

Went to Von's for lunch with Marion, Vicky and [livejournal.com profile] maaseru today. Had a lovely time, except that [livejournal.com profile] maaseru became ill. I worry.

Watched Cranford and enjoyed it well enough, but without much sense of engagement. Also watched the first episode of The Invisibles because it stars Anthony Head and Jenny Agutter. Didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped; it has good moments but the overall story didn't interest me much. Am I in an off-mood, or what? Or just pining for more Torchwood? Suffering mid-week blues because I've seen last week's Doctor Who and don't have next week's episode yet?

I did a lot of computer clean-up and computer desk clean-up, including listing addreses of friends and relatives - a job that never seems urgent enough, or quick enough, to pay much attention to, but which is most useful and important.

Writing my apazine, too. Slowly (very slowly) but surely.

And - despite my current physical difficulties - I managed to frame a picture of Captain Jack Harkness and Captain John Hart from the Torchwood magazine, and put it on my bathroom wall.

Sheila came to visit, with a Swiss Chalet chicken dinner, and Tasia joined us. They very kindly helped me put up my new computer monitor, which is the Asus 193T - a 19" widescreen. Funny how fast I can get used to the luxury.

And... nice how good my wallpaper looks: a Torchwood scene of Captain Jack looking through the window in his office. Widescreen and more beautiful than ever.

Sheila and Tasia couldn't stay long - Sheila had a meeting and she was driving Tasia to a bus stop. (Bus connections between my place and Tasia's are appalling.) But just as they were leaving, Lyn dropped by, with beautiful flowers and a Daredevil comic and two yoga books for me - carefully picked so I can do yoga sitting in a chair. So very sweet of her. We had a nice visit, and she said, among other things, that I was "so very easy to talk to", which I think is one of the nicest things one person can say of another. I was... chuffed.

Too bad my foot is hurting more today. So it goes.
