Tonight I went with Sandi, Pat and Lyn to see Live Free or Die Hard. Loved it. It wasn't the explosions or the stunts or the chase scenes, it was the wit and the heroism and the characters. John McClane is and always has been deliciously heroic. And convincingly so.

I also liked Maggie Q as one of the deliciously dangerous supervillains he was up against. Justin Long had a lot of charm as Matt Farrell, the cowardly computer hacker who finds himself. Of course I liked him - he had a Wolverine action figure in his apartment. My kind of guy. And he got the girl in the end, at least potentially. Kevin Smith was rther delightfully typecast as the crochety computer nerd.

Great fun.

The instinctive method of writing is random in appearance, but that is not to say it is less ordered. Discovering knowledge from your well of unconscious information looks sloppy, but we must always remember that there are no straight lines in the chaos of our hidden minds.
Stories are often lies. More often, they are only partial truths.
Perhaps you were looking for an epiphany, and all you found was a joke.
Poetry is the fount of all writing.

These are all from his book This Year You Write Your Novel. Don't get too excited by these good quotes; he is also capable of writing an abomination like He will have to overcome the terror wrought upon him by the land pirates who decimated so many lives. I can't even begin to guess what he thinks "decimated" means!

The latest news from BBC about season 4 is very disappointing to me.

Ah well. I couldn't expect my honeymoon with Doctor Who to last forever, could I?
