I got this from [livejournal.com profile] kikibug13.

The results are actually not true. I feel no connection with the High Priestess, who is too esoteric and too religious a symbol for me. Perhaps the test gravitated that way because I chose the moon as my favourite heavenly body - which is really a moot point, I don't have a heavenly body, or if I do, it would be a star, which was not one of the options here.

No: the tarot card which I believe represents me is the Queen of Swords; but this quiz used only the Major Arcana. Of the Major Arcana, I would be the Magician. The High Priestess is irrelevant. Here's what it says, anyway.... )

And in case you haven't noticed, I find the symbols of Tarot fascinating. I like doing Tarot readings, usually using the Hanson-Roberts deck. I do highly intuitive readings, and enjoy it very much.... Though I never do readings for myself.

Huh. I just did another online Tarot test and still got the result that I am the High Priestess. Faugh! I deny it. Another... Well, at least this time I wasn't the High Priestess. It's worse - the Heirophant. What's this with connecting me to hierarchical religious figures? I am neither hierarchical nor religious. If I'm to be a mystic figure, it could at least be the Hermit, which doesn't represent authority.

Another Tarot game I like is to assign characters from a fandom to the different cards. For instance, Lymond as Magician with Philippa as Empress - or High Priestess? Possibly the latter.

In Doctor Who fandom it would be trickier, I think, but that maybe just makes it more fun. Rose, as the viewpoint character, would be the Fool, I think, the person making the Hero's Journey. The TARDIS could be the Chariot - but what would the Doctor be? Death, because he's transformative? The Tower, because he is accompanied by disaster? The Star, because he brings enlightenment and love? The Wheel of Fortune, because he's mercurial and you never know what will happen? The Emperor, because he always prevails? He could be any one of the cards....

I redecorated the bathroom a little yesterday. I now have the following pictures on my bathroom walls:

(1) Over the towel rack, on the right: The lovely picture of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor that was in this month's issue of Doctor Who Magazine, with his hand on his head.

(2) Over the towel rack, on the left: The picture of Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper that was the lead picture in the Starburst feature on Torchwood last month. Gwen is dressed the way Gwen dresses, in black shirt and trousers; Jack is dressed in jeans and a black leather jacket, which is totally atypical of the man who always wears "period military". This is not to say he isn't suitably attractive in jeans and a black leather jacket, just that it looks more like the Jack of Doctor Who than of Torchwood. Perhaps he's in a transitional phase? Or incognito?

(4) On the wall by the door: A picture of the TARDIS, with the Doctor and Martha in the foreground.

(5) Beside that: A picture of Rose and Nine.

(6) Below that: a calendar, with a picture of Nine and Rose - the "Bad Wolf" page from the 2006 calendar. I have mixed and matched the pictures, since the calendar tends to show too many alien monsters for my taste, and too few Time Lords. I have scissors. I can fix that.

Books...

From Booking through Thursday:

  1. So, last week we asked you if you kept a list of books that you're interested in, wanting to read, wanting to buy, etc. This week, we want to know--do you keep a list of the books you've READ? If so, how? In a journal? A notebook? On the computer?
    Easy answer: no.

Sometimes I talk about what I read on LJ or in Apaplexy, but I don't make a list. I wouldn't even want to. That's way too organized for me. If a book is memorable, I'll remember it. If not... why bother?

Okay, sometimes this laissez-faire attitude comes back to bite me, such as when I have a terrible time remembering a title or an author of a book whose content I recall quite well. But do I mend my ways? No. Never will, I'm sure.
