I don't want to just sit here quoting Warren Ellis all the time... ah, heck, maybe I do. From today:
I think it was after that some Bush PR handler went off at a journalist, claiming that people out in the great Heartland of America were going for Bush because, quote, "they like the way he walks, they like the way he talks, they like the way he points to things." That weird alpha-monkey gait of his, with the palms facing backwards and the squared shoulders, is actually an ape-community tell denoting the leader. Seriously.
And by gum that's the most
sensible explanation of Bush I've come across yet.
He talks about people being up in arms about what Ann Coulter said about Canada. I don't know who she is and I don't know what she said. Though the phrase, "Blame Canada," did flash across my brain. In actual fact, I think what Ellis said about her is very wise:
Ann Coulter may be Crazy and Evil, but she's funny. People are currently up in arms over
her comments about Canada, but, you know, she's on TV. She's paid to be a dancing monkey. You want
people to pay less attention to her? Dance better.
We live in interesting times and media immediacy has changed the nature of political action and perception.
