Pick a card, any card....
Oct. 7th, 2003 10:10 pmI discovered a new artist today: Avril Paton. I don't have time to browse her site much but my favourite of the paintings so far - the one that was initially pointed out to me by an online friend who likes her art - is The Pleasure Gardens.
Speaking of pleasure.... at Lynne's house we were experimenting with a set of Cheryl Richardson cards. Cheryl Richardson is an American self-improvement specialist (she calls herself a "coach") whose books we have been reading and studying together. I'd given Lisa a set of Cheryl Richardson cards, and we each picked three to evaluate in light of our lives as they currently are. Each card has an intersesting, evocative and mildly surreal piece of art on it. Mine were:
SUPPORT - Offer your support to someone. Experience the joy of serving others.
PLEASURE - Do something just for fun. Pleasure is one of life's essential nutrients. [The picture was of a woman in a frilly lavender dress with two fluffy cats.]
NATURE - Take a walk. Let the beauty of nature feed your soul. [The picture was of dark trees, and a river between them, reflecting lovely orange light.]
I can do all of these things.
