The surf is because I am playing nature sounds for the birds - and for myself. I love the sound of water.

A long, pleasant day that started with kundalini yoga with Aliya and ended going back to her palce for supper and a consultation on diet. At least when my diet consultant prepares my meal, I can be sure I'm eating food that's good for me. She served me a lovely kind of chowder called kashidi. I'd never heard of it before, but I hope to make some soon.

Now I can at last work on my current Clex story a little.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be busy, too: I need to do shopping and cooking before going to a scrabble party and barbecue at a fannish friend's place. How does the time fill up so easily? Not that I'm sorry to be going - I'm looking forward to it - I just need more reading and writing time.

It's better than a boring life, right?

The most interesting thing that happened today is that a busload of kids got lost. The play was supposed to start at 1 p.m.; the bus didn't turn up. They waited. It was 1.15 and the bus hadn't turned up. They phoned the school - it had left on schedule. Then I got a phone call from the National Arts Centre saying, "I have fifty children here looking for a play that doesn't exist. Is it by any chance at your theatre?"

Turns out the bus driver had been told to go to the wrong theatre - clearly someone got mixed up somewhere in the instructions.

Luckily, the NAC is only about a ten-minute walk away and the lost teachers and kids arrived on foot, only slightly frazzled. I think they just missed the first few minutes of the show, but at least one parent was irate at the delay in curtain time and demanded her money back.

They had a tour of the theatre afterwards and I think that in the end a good time was had by all.

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore!

May you have a year full of inspiration and good writing, verbs, nouns and prepositions leaping to do your bidding, lots of good Clex and clever, sexy ideas. Not to mention good health and prosperity.

From The Friday Five:

1. Is your hair naturally curly, wavy, or straight? Long or short?

Straighter than straight. Fine and straight. Currently short, but over the years I've worn it long (almost to my waist) and short (almost a crew cut) and everything in between. I've never used Lex's hairstyle, though.

2. How has your hair changed over your lifetime?

It grows until I cut it.

Besides that, it started out fairly fair - my mother used to say the highlights were gold, and I went blonde in the summer, though I suppose my normal colour was light brown. In the last decade or two it's been darker, and now the brown is is turning into pepper-and-salt grey. I keep saying I'm going to dye it purple or blue and my friends keep talking me out of it. Spoilsports.

3. How do your normally wear your hair?

As simply as possible. It won't hold a barrett or bobby pin or rubber band, or braids or pony tails. It will take a perm, but not very well - it tends to go frizzy, and besides, perms are expensive. So I get it cut so it's tidy-looking and leave it alone.

4. If you could change your hair this minute, what would it look like?

I'd have it streaked: copper and black highlights.

5. Ever had a hair disaster? What happened?

No. Never. Every once in a while I want to do something radical with my hair, and usually the hairstylist gets very nervous about it, but I like a radical change. My results with a perm haven't been very successful but they weren't disasters. I guess the worse that has ever happened.... A while ago I dyed my hair but the colour was so like my normal colour that no one noticed. (Blue. It has to be blue.)
