I went to an Esperanto meeting last night, and watched Smallville when I got home. I was way too tired to say anything about it here.... Why was I so wiped? I think it's a combination of not enough sleep in general, allergies, and being too busy. It was a long day.

So: Smallville. Obsession. I'm not fond of the stalker episodes in general, but they're a heck of a lot better when the person being stalked is Clark or Lex.

Observances:

  1. Clark was cute. Lex was gorgeous. They didn't spend enough time together, but when they did, it was great. I like the way Clark confides in Lex, and the way Lex tries to be helpful.

  2. I like the way Lex and Lana are allies to get to the bottom of the Adam mystery. Does Lex suspect his father's involvement?

  3. I would have liked to have seen more of Chloe. What was she doing through most of the episode? Why did she get invovled in the situation - and then just disappear? I particularly liked the jabs she and Lionel were exchanging in the beginning. Loved seeing Lionel's talk to the students. Made me grin.

  4. I liked the end, with Lionel and Adam. I remain certain that Adam is good, he's just being used by Lionel to bad ends.

  5. Lana had no business reading Adam's secret journal, whatever the situation. I have issues on the matter that date to the time my husband (now -ex) read my diary, and the results weren't pretty. Of course, Lana is yet nother Smallville character who, so far as I can see, lacks any kind of ethics, and I don't really mind in the least! I don't like her for it, but I don't need to like her. I like her moral vacuousness that is so much part of her character, especially since she tends to be self-righteous. When caught in wrong-doing, she always attacks the person who has caught her in the act.

  6. The scene where Alicia appeared in Clark's bed was pretty hot. I liked it. I wondered if Clark was wishing it were Lex.

  7. Again, a sort of null episode for Martha. I used to like her so much - I'm frustrated by her lack of significance lately.

  8. What happened to Alicia in the end? Was she trapped in a teleport loop? Did she die? Was she handed over to the law, to disappear into Belle Reve? I thought she was going to simply... disappear. Teleport away and not reappear. I liked her power, very much. I like it when Clark does that trick of appearing to disappear through using his superspeed, too. And I love it when Bruce Wayne does it just through skilled stealth.

  9. So the doctor is in cahoots with Lionel. Hmm.

The repeated inviting girls over for dinner just proved she has too much time on her hands.

I watched "Cool" the other day and the contrast between buzz-saw, spirited Martha and the one we've been dished up lately is painful.

She seems to have slipped into a mode of mindlessness and sloth. Where is the take-charage woman we used to have? She needs to do something useful - like work for Lionel.

I should watch a first season episode again, just to get a dose of Martha as she ought to be.

True. It's interesting that her morals have never been called to the matt, the way Chloe's (etc.) have been. They just quietly become more and more... questionable.

Me, too!

That is so true. Lionel is condemned with good cause. Lex is condemned for no reason at all. Clark is judged by those he loves over and over. Chloe is made to suffer for her sins. But Lana? The virtuous princess gets away with everything she does. It's another reason to feel less than charmed with her, especially when she consistently takes the high moral ground in talking to others. With no justification whatsoever.
