Medical report....
Feb. 3rd, 2004 12:36 pmI went to my doctor today, for a follow-up check-up to the various tests they did in December. Lots of good news: mammogram, blood sugar, all healthy and good. They were watching my blood pressure, which last checked as 145/90, if I'm remembering the right numbers. Today it was 110/74. Yay!
Bad news: cholesterol is still up, so I'm being sent for more blood tests. Hmmph.
She asked me if I had any health concerns. I decided to ignore several, and mentioned skin care. I have a few sun-damage blotches on my face. She had no advice. "It's damage from the sun that was done twenty years ago, showing up now," she said. "Laser surgery might fix if, if you're really concerned."
My thought: you aren't bringing a laser anywhere near my precious skin, thank you!
She added, "You can console yourself with the thought that it's a lot better now than it will be when you're seventy."
Okay, I laughed. I hate it when doctors are optimistic!
She has a spiffy imac and kept showing me details of my chart on it - things her replacement doctor had written in December, results of my tests, that sort of thing. I liked that, since previous doctors have always been unwilling to show me my voluminous full files and I always wonder what's in there. Obviously this doctor is into full disclosure. I like that.
