Rowing against the wind...
Jan. 31st, 2004 11:51 pmI went to a rowing class at the fitness club today. Not rowing a boat, but rowing machines. I've used them, without much sense how they work. I thought this would help. I thought being in a class would help me to know what I'm doing.
It did all that. I never anticipated how very much I would enjoy it.
The instructor, Murray, is covered in tatoos (mostly Haida art and skulls) and wears a kerchief on his head. Pirate! thought I, happily. He was very good at coaching me through the difficult bits as I struggled to remember what to do with each body part I was using.
I loved it. Only problem was: after walking downtown and back (mostly walking on the canal) and doing the rowing class, I was exhausted and useless all evening.
