From this week's Fannish Five:

1) What is your favorite part of pro conventions?

Seeing the stars. Finding and buying fannish merchandise, if I'm lucky.

2) What is your favorite part about fan run conventions?

Getting the chance to discuss fandom (and usually, slash) with other fans. Merchandise, too. I really love fannish objects - especially useful ones, like T-shirts with a picture of Methos, or coasters with pictures of Bodie and Doyle on them, or an Elvish key-chain. I have all of these and love them with a totally irrational joy and delight.

3) What is your favorite ship (slash or het)?

Ultimately unaswerable, because this changes with time - new relationships become a "current favourite" while I usually still love the old. Currently my favourite realtionships are Clex, Aragorn/Legolas, Aragorn/Faramir (no, I've never read an Aragorn/Faramir story or written one either, but I like the idea - recs welcome), Jack/Norrington, Jack/Will, Jack/Elizabeth. Old favourites: Bodie/Doyle, Mulder/Krycek (or Mulder/Skinner), Horatio/Pellew, Gambit/Magneto.

4) What is your favorite fan fic (net or zine)?

If I had to pick one, it would be They Say of the Elves by [livejournal.com profile] brancher.

I hate picking one.

Other conteders for #1 favourite-lsash-story spot:

  1. Spring-Heeled Jack by Georgina Kirrin in Motet for New Voices in B and D put out by Keynote Press.

  2. A Nice, Friendly Game by [livejournal.com profile] koimistress

  3. Tertium Quid by [livejournal.com profile] rivkat

  4. The Larton Chronicles by Rhiannon, a Professionals slash AU that you can find listed here
  5. .

5) What is your favorite piece of fan art?

My favourite piece of fan art of all time is a portrait of Gambit of the X-Men by [livejournal.com profile] maboroshimaki. She drew it for my birthday some years ago.

Currently, my second favourite is a Clex piece by Suzan Lovett called Steel and Slate which you can see here. I have it on the wall by my computer - it was a Christmas present last month. I also love Suzan Lovett's picture "Night Music", which is the sexiest peice of fan art I've ever seen anywhere, but I don't think it can be found online. It furnished the cover of Night Music in B and D, put out by Keynote Press.

I also generally like the art of The Theban Band.
