Yuletide 2019

I could write the same intro every year, but I'm not going to. Not quite. My tastes and desires don't change much, though. I'm always happy to get new prompts for stories, and always happy to get stories, so it's a good trade.
As last year, the template here is taken from
triplesalto.
Hello and welcome to my Yuletide letter! Thank you for writing for me.
AO3 name: fajrdrako
General likes: Competence, heroism, adventures, slow burn romance, passionate feelings, first times, five-times fics, happy endings. Good grammar and good spelling and that more nebulous thing, good style, are all very important to me - more important than story content. I love in-character fanfic that makes me feel I know a character better than I did before.
Smut Likes: Detailed explicit sex, sex in which the characters are really eager for it, M/M, F/F, threesomes or sexual groupings of any configuration, bisexual characters, teasing, romantic sex, passionate feelings, bondage, sexual tension and/or delayed gratification.
DNWs: unhappy endings, character death, rape, extreme changes from canon characterisation, explicit gore and violence.
Fandoms Requested this year: A Discovery of Witches (TV), Rivers of London - Ben Aaronovitch, Six of Crows Series - Leigh Bardugo, The Queen's Thief - Megan Whalen Turner, Unstoppable Wasp (Comics), Warchild Series - Karin Lowachee, .

Fandom 1: A Discovery of Witches (TV)
I haven't read the novels yet - feel free to incorporated ideas from the books, but no major spoilers, please. All the characters interest me, including their world. Love the French background. Love the twists of plot. Love details of Matthew Claremont's past.

Fandom 2: Rivers of London - Ben Aaronovitch
I adore both Thomas Nightingale and Peter Grant, for different reasons - including the delightful contrast of two kinds of Englishmen: the traditional gentleman of a bygone era, and the curious multicultural working class cop.
Aspects I find particularly interesting:
- The relationship between Peter Grant and Thomas Nightingale. Could be slashy, could be straight - but either way, how does Nightingale actually understand Peter and his milieu? What makes them appreciate and understand - or fail to understand - each other?
- Nightingale's background. We know he has issue about World War II, but before that - family? Non-magical friends? How and when did his affinity for magic appear? How was it fostered?
- Themes about their ties to specific places in London or in England, including rivers.
- What would happen if Peter and Nightingale had a serious class of needs, values, or intent? Would they compromise? Would one of them back down? And why?
- I'd like to see a story in which one of them surprises the other - with an accomplishment, or a decision, or something in their past.
Though I like a focus on Peter Grant and Thomas Nightingale, I don't mind the other characters in the novels being included, including, of course, Toby. And Beverley Brook.

Fandom 3: Six of Crows Series - Leigh Bardugo
I loved the world of Ketterdan with all its aspects - the lowlife and the rich, the vagrants and the foreigners. Most of all, I adored Kaz Brekker, with his vulnerability and strength, his problems and his unutterable cleverness. I also loved Inej, with her skills and her courage, and her determination to meet her goals.
Aspects I find particularly interesting:
- The relationship between Kaz and Inej - a little bit like Rogue and Gambit. Is their love impossible? Can the situation be resolved, and if so, how?
- Will Inej succeed in her anti-piracy ambitions? How will that play out? With there be complications?
- I'd be interested in seeing the whole team a year after the ending of "Crooked Kingdom". How will they have changed? How will their feelings towards each other (and the events of the books) have evolved? Will they be in a better situation, or a worse one?
~~~
Fandom 4: The Queen's Thief - Megan Whalen Turner
Eugenides is my big favourite here, but I love it all - Kamut and his people, the Queens, the various people in Attolia's court.
- If Eugenides and Irene had a fight, what would he do to win her over?
- What insight would make Kamut actually appreciate Attolia, and its people - including individuals?
- How does Eugenides overcome problems caused by his hand?
If it's useful, there is a wiki for The Queen's Thief series here.
Fandom 5: Unstoppable Wasp (Comics)
What makes Nadia tick? How does she feel about her powers? We know something of her thoughts on her father - more might be interesting. Or her thoughts about Jarvis - what if she thought he let her down? What if he were in trouble - what would she do to help him? Same for Janet van Dyne, and Nadia's fellow scientists. She likes to be self-sufficient: who would she turn to if she couldn't be?
~~~
Fandom 6: Warchild Series - Karin Lowachee
Cairo Azarcon is one of my favourite heroes, the Macedon one of my favourite ships. I'd love to know more of his story. I also loved Yuri, Jos and Ryan.
Things I would like to see explored:
- Azarcon in any sort of emotional conflict - between his wife and his ship? in his relationship with Ryan? in his feelings regarding Yuri or Falcone?
- Azarcon's choosing crew for the Macedon - and how the individuals fit in with their various difficulties (PTSD, etc.)
- his conflict(s) with the government, and the reasons he makes the choices he makes
- Anything featuring Azarcon's past and how it affects his present
- What happens after the end of "Cagebird"?
~~~
I might add that these are all guidelines and hints, not rules!
