I'm still learning my way around Vanier at lunchtime. Seems it takes me about twenty minutes to walk to St. Laurent Boulevard, and about ten minutes to walk to the big Loblaws at the corner of the Vanier Parkway and McArthur Ave.
Today was a beautiful sunny, warm, breezy day. I bought an egg salad sandwich and a plum - and a pair of yellow shoes - at Loblaws, then still had time to walk along Washington (Ottawa has a street named Washington? Did I know that?) to North River. Then I sat in the quiet park under a tree staring towards the river in the distance, eating my sandwich.
Lovely.
My time of peace, I thought. And I resolved to have a Time of Peace every day - picnics by the river being ideal, but that won't be possible as we get into winter. It can be anything from a moment to pause by the canal on my way home, to meditation in my apartment, to - well, I'll improvise as I go. Too bad I can't choose weather as nice as this every day.
