I like this kind of list. I liked
My list a baker's dozen, in alphabetical order:
- The Hottest Hotties
- Lewis Collins as Bodie in The Professionals
- Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean (or as Rouge in Chocolat)
- Ralph Fiennes as Edmund in King Lear
- Lawrence Fishburn in Othello1
- John Glover as Lionel Luthor in Smallvile
- Daniel Day Lewis in Last of the Mohicans
- John Malkovich in Dangerous Liaisons2
- Viggo Mortensen3 in Lord of the Rings2
- Christopher Plummer in The Sound of Music
- Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville
- Martin Shaw as Alan Cade in The Chief and as Doyle in The Professionals and as Chauvelin in The Scarlet Pimpernel
- Peter Wingfield as Methos in Highlander
Special mention: James Marsters as Spike in Buffy and Angel.
Footnotes:
1 But I haven't liked him in anything since.
2 These roles seem similar to me; not that the personalities of the men are alike, but the two roles push the same buttons.
3 The Lord of the Rings is a special case. I almost said David Wenham instead of Viggo Mortensen - even though Aragorn is by far my favourite character and always has been, David Wenham is delicious. But then, I could make a top ten hotties list from that movie alone. Why don't I?
- Orlando Bloom as Legolas
- Billy Boyd as Pippin. I'm not usually a pervy hobbit fancier but Boyd's performance was so good it floored me, and I've always liked Pippin. A special case hobbit.
- Brad Dourif as Grima Wormtongue. Egad, now I've really exposed myself as a pervert!
- Brett Mackenzie as Figwit (he even got a line!)
- Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn
- Craig Parker as Haldir
- Karl Urban as Eomer
- Hugo Weaving as Elrond, Lord of Rivendell
- David Wenham as Faramir
- An anonymous hobbit glimpsed in the Birthday party scene that I like the look of.
The Hottest Hotties in "The Lord of the Rings"
I could and maybe should do a list of Top Ten Female Hotties. Yeah, why not:
The Hottest Hotties: The Women
- Morena Baccarin as Inara in Firefly
- Juliette Binoche in The English Patient
- Denise Black in The Scarlet Pimpernel and Queer as Folk
- Barbara Carrera in Embryo1
- Anna Friel as Bella in Our Mutual Friend
- Anne Heche in Seven Days, Seven Nights
- Sophie Marceau in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Marquise
- Jewel Staite as Kaylee in Firefly
- Gina Torres as Zoe in Firefly
- Nana Visitor as Kira in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine2
Footnotes:
1 Too bad it was a lousy movie.
2 I didn't watch all the seasons, or all the episodes of the seasons I did watch. I was somewhat bored with the show, but I certainly liked Kira. Bashir as well.
Special mention: Ingrid Bergman from Casablanca and Spellbound.
What fun, remembering all these sexy roles and gorgeous people. Thanks for the incentive,

Date: 2004-01-20 03:40 pm (UTC)On The Men, generally: you had the good taste to include Ralph Fiennes - yay! Would that be a film or stage performance of King Lear? I go weak at the knees over him in the English Patient. Talking of which, if I were to nominate a droolworthy female from that film, it would be Kristin Scott Thomas rather than Juliette Binoche. Hmm, and I see Miranda Otto didn't make your hotlist - I think she's gorgeous.
And I agree with some of your LotR list - Orli, Viggo, Billy especially. Figwit I find a complete nonentity in the hotness department. *g* And Grima??! I shouldn't think you'll have to share with too many other people... *g*
The anonymous hobbit at the Birthday Party has piqued my curiosity. If you can provide instructions, I'll have a go at tracking him down...

Date: 2004-01-20 07:12 pm (UTC)Well, I figured I should try for some sort of order....
Would that be a film or stage performance of King Lear?
Staged, at the National Theatre in London.... I forget which year. It was brilliant and he made a very strong impression. I'd never heard of him before that.
I agree that Mirando Otto is gorgeous and I considered putting her on the list. I may still do so. I'm not sure why I'm hesitating.
I'll try to make a note of the "anonymous Hobbit" in such a way that you can find and maybe identify him.
