How cold is cold?
Jan. 13th, 2004 10:13 pmI walked to work. Yes, it's cold. It's record-breaking finger-freezing cold and it took me almost twice as long to get to work as usual because it was so slippery underfoot.
There were only five of us at yoga class tonight. The class seemed particularly intense; I felt sort of dreamy through it. Barbara kept having us do asanas that would keep us warm. Quite a workout. I was happy, though, that she at last had us - well, me and Betty - doing the full shoulderstand (salamba sarvangasana). Ustrasana too. It was a back-bend type of class.
I did something this evening I've never done before: I bought something from a telephone solicitor. It was the Quality paperback book club; I used to belong. They wanted to get me back and they found my Achilles heel - they offered me The Lord of the Rings. Crafty devils. It worked. (There's nothing so bad about collecting multiple editions of Dunnett and Tolkien.... is there?)
I'm so tired. I feel good, but the cold weather seems to drain me of energy.
