Rain

I woke up to rain.

That might not, in the normal course of things, be strange, but we had such a dry, hot summer that I can't recall when this last happened.

It's beautiful. I hear thunder rolling, and that smooth, hissing sound of rain that isn't letting up.

Suddenly the world seems fresh and cool.

Life is the wind and the rain and the thunder in the sky. - Seneca

It hasn't rained here since July 22nd. Second longest dry spell in Seattle history so far. If we get to Tuesday without it raining at the airport (the official recording spot) it'll be the longest since they started keeping records over 100 years ago.

But we're supposed to get showers tomorrow night. It'll be interesting to see if it's enough in the right place to wreck the record [g].

Well, we normally don't get much rain this time of year -- we average only about an inch in August. But yes, it does seem strange. I don't think the trees are happy, either.
