Talking to trash...
Jan. 7th, 2004 11:51 pmAt the Rideau Centre food court they have waste disposal containers that talk to you. You throw in your paper plates and old napkins and it says, "Thank you for your assistance" in two official languages. I think this is absurd. I don't need trash bins to talk to me, thank you all the same.
Today I was about to throw away my paper plate and old napkin, waiting for the young man in front of me to do the same, when the container thanked him. To my surprise, he replied to it: "No problem."
I would assume he doesn't always talk to garbage cans, just the ones that speak to him first.
Now, that's good manners. A little excessive, I think, even for a Canadian.
