I watched this week's episode of Smash tonight with

How I love that show.
A few specifics...
- As I watched, I was sure Ivy was going to get the role of Marilyn. When Karen got it (thanks to Derek), I thought something was going to go wrong. Over and over it looked as if Karen wouldn't make it to the actual show... But she did. And I was very happy about that.
- Love the slew of cliffhangers. Dev. Ivy. Ellis. Loved seeing Jerry again - with Eileen resisting the opportunity to throw her drink in his face. Love it that she saw he show with Nick. Love it that Ellis told Eileen he put the peanuts in Rebecca's drink and she fired him for it.
- Most of all, I love it that a lot of the episode was about Karen and her relationship with Derek. Yeah, I am a Karen/Derek shipper, and I totally love their scenes together.
- I realized that I have a thing for scenes in which two characters sit on the floor to talk, especially if they are leaning against the wall. I've seen it before in movies and TV shows, and I always love it. It was perfect this time.
- And as always, I adored the scenes of Tom and Julia, both separately and together. Loved the scene where Tom was losing heart and Sam talked to him about art and 'why we do it'.
- I thought Leo was great, too. Saving his parents' marraige (again) without knowing he was doing it. I hope he passed his exams, and got into the college he wanted. Or has that not happened yet?
- So glad the show has been renewed. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for season 2.
