Torchwood and Spice...

A few weeks ago friend gave me two new white plastic spice racks, rather like this, with unlabelled empty jars. I was wanting to label and fill the bottles, but I wanted to find pre-made labels. Not that I couldn't make serviceable labels, and I've done so before, but I have seen very nice labels in the stores - it would be easier and more aesthetic to get them.

So I've been looking in the stores. Some, like the Bulk Barn, used to sell such a thing, but don't any more. Staples just has the label paper to make it yourself. I tried about a dozen places. And it occurred to me that J.D. Adams on Bank Street might have them. I love that store - kitchenwares of every variety, teapots, cups and saucers, storage jars, aprons - all sorts of wonderful domestic items. Christmas decorations, too.

And they had the labels. Not only did they have the labels, they had choice: plastic horizonal framed spice names, circular spice names for the tops of the bottles. Or I could buy (at something like twice the price and less quantity) coloured, fancy labels. They were nice, but I really don't have a coloured, fancy sort of kitchen. I got the plastic labels, and labelled all my spices today.

As I was leaving the store, the woman who had sold me the labels noticed my backpack. "You have a Torchwood Institute backpack!" she said. "Did you sew the name on, or did it come with it?"

"I sewed it on," I said.

"I love Torchwood," she confessed.

"So do I," I said.

"Mostly I love Captain Jack," she said.

"So do I," I answered. She may or may not be my soulmate, but she sure has good taste in TV heroes.

I love it when that sort of thing happens.

I also love Torchwood - but only series 1 & 2. I absolutely hated what RTD did at the end of series 3 so much that I can't watch it again. Of course we haven't had series 4 here yet.

I survived series 3 but couldn't handle series 4 and stopped partway through. I do intend to watch... hopefully before I'm spoiled as to the ending... but I'm not looking forward to it.

I want to see Captain Jack happy. Enough with the tragedies and pain.
