Patience

Captain Jack lay on the grass of the cliff, looking over the water. The breeze was light; the sun touching lightly, as it tended to do in Wales at the best of times.

Sometimes he that that if he just stared hard enough and long enough, the TARDIS would appear - as if it were always just out of sight, just a second away from his timeline, just a moment's travel from his space.

If he waited long enough, the Doctor would could back for him. It was the certainty at the centre of his life.

Ianto touched his shoulder. "Jack? We ought to be heading home, now."

Jack rose in one fluid movement, and took Ianto into his arms. "So many uses for a stopwatch," he murmurred, and felt Ianto's lips curl into a smile as he kissed him.
