Things went entirely haywire today in many directions at once, and in the end I spent the evening in a way I didn't plan at all: watching last week's Supernatural with Pim and [personal profile] maaseru.

It was a thrown-together supper of Kraft Dinner, PC frozen meat balls, Caesar salad, and (thanks to Marion and Vicky last night) chocolate mousse cake. Really quite good, in the end. With food and the easement of a few minor crises (don't ask) tempers cooled and we really enjoyed th episode. Pin said she thought it was better than the season opener of Fringe. I found it hard to compare; I like Fringe so very much better, think it's a much better show. But Fringe's "Neither Here Nor There" didn't feature Peter, wasn't particularly tense, and didn't have a lot of plot; while Supernatural managed to pack a lot of punch, and humour too, into a nicely coherent story.

I could still do without the gore.

  1. Sam and Dean still seem to be aligned, getting alone, having good rapport. And that's worth everything. Even though I'm getting a little tired of Sam thinking "I won't tell Dean the truth, I'll protect him" and Dean thinking, "Sam's hiding things from me again". That got old fast, a couple of seasons ago. (Actually, I liked it in season four. But that was season four.)

  2. Unlike, it seems, a lot of fans, I'm not a big fan of Bobby. I liked him better when he only appeared occasionally, so he could be the gruff experienced mentor. Now... to my eyes, he seems too much like a third wheel. Not really significant as a father figure (especially when their real father was one of the most interesting fictional fathers ever). Still. I didn't mind Bobby here.

  3. Loved seen God-Cas smiting the hypocrites.

  4. Loved seeing Crowley again, and his wonderful conversation with Castiel.

  5. It was nice to see Castiel become Castiel again. I don't believe he's gone. Pim pointed out that he 'isn't a regular this year'. Good, because he year he was a regular, he was mostly comic relief, and I wasn't happy about it. In his best season, he wasn't a regular either.

  6. Lucifer was more interesting here than he was in all of season five.

  7. Loved the way the Dean/Castiel relationship was handled, like a nasty divorce - followed by reconiliation.

  8. I liked it that, when there was nothing Dean could do about the situation, he worked on his car.

  9. Loved the woman in the street who found God-Castiel sexy. So he was.

  10. I liked some of the special effects - glowing sigils and such.

  11. Not to mention dead angels.

  12. Loved the repentent Castiel.

  13. Leviathan. Hmm. It's an intriguing theme - but then, so was Lucifer, and that fizzled. I didn't like Lilith in any way, but someone she never annoyed me as much in terms of her place in the plot.

  14. I still love Dean. Anime porn. Heh.
