The last episode of the book... Ooh, how I loved it. Such good casting, such good production valus, such interesting added scenes.
I didn't remember much of the events here from the book: I remember the terrible events preceeding, and then my memory went more or less blank until the scene with the funeral pyre and the coming of the dragons.
Thoughts:
- I loved the way we first saw Danaerys walking into water, and at the end, saw her walking into fire. Transition points in her life, both of them.
- Loved, loved, loved the newborn dragons.
- So sad about Khal Drogo.
- Joffrey: so very horrible.
- Tyrion: so wonderful, and better all the time.
- Speaking of Lannisters, that was a nice bonus scene we got with the conversation between Jaime Lannister and Catelyn Stark. Great character establishment.
- Loved the "King of the North" scene with Rob and his men.
- Poor Arya! I liked the introduction of Hot Pie, Gendry and the others. I didn't remember that as being in this book.
- Shea is not like book-Shea, but very interesting.
- Interesting which characters we didn't see: Hodor, Shagga, Renley. I was happy that we saw Osha again, and Lancel (already having sex with Cersei).
- How long till we get A Clash of Kings? Is there any news about the casting of the new characters in it? I must do some research.
- Have I mentioned lately my love of Tyrion?
Pim tells me that there are sample excerpts from A Dance with Dragons on George R.R. Martin's website. I've been avoiding that, because I didn't want spoilers, and we've had enough teasing. But now I'm so eager for the book, with three weeks to go... I think I may have to find and read them.
Especially now the TV series has whetted my appetite, and ended.
