I wasn't sure what to make of this article from the Globe & Mail about homophobia in Uganda. It seems horrifying that people could make such laws. The phrase "habitual offender" horrified me the most. And yes, I understand the level of fear they must have in Uganda over AIDS, but making gays the scapegoat won't help anyone.
Then I shuddered at this sentence:
Homosexuality is highly unpopular in Uganda, and pastors in this Christian country speak out loudly against it. Mr. Bahati has said he thinks the bill would become law if voted on.
How can Christians be so cruel and intolerant? And why?
