Union meeting....

For the third year in a row, I was at the Annual General Meeting of a local union - no, I'm not a member. I was there to take the minutes.
It's rather fun, to be at a meeting of people who have nothing to do with me in an organization I have nothing to do with, and to get a glimpse of their lives.
It made me glad I don't work for the government like they do, until I heard the terms they were asking for, and the lengths they were prepared to go to get them. I don't have a fraction of those privileges and benefits, let alone the high pay.
Mind you - the good thing about doing a freelance job for a union meeting is that they pay up front. I was handed my cheque before the meeting was over, and I haven't even written up my notes yet. When I do a similar job for the government, it takes them months to pay me.
