I like this question. I have two answers. This isn't taking Miracle Day into consideration, since we don't know what its ending point will be.



Answer #1: Continuing on from the end of Children of Earth with two different spin-off shows...


Captain Jack Harkness, travelling in space and time, is stuck in a terrible cliffhanger when the TARDIS comes along. They save the day and he continues as the Doctor's companion, with or without Martha or Sarah Jane or Rose. Doctor Who and Captain Jack.

Torchwood continues with Alice Cooper taking over in Jack's place, complete with greatcoat and attitude. She wants to fix things so aliens don't kill little boys ever again. Her team includes Gwen and three other very cool, very beautiful people. As an added bonus, Alice is as omnisexual as her father.


Answer #2: Continuing on from the end of Reset...


After Owen is shot, he dies, without coming back. Or perhaps the shot was not fatal, and he recovers, thanks to Martha's good care, with a worse attitude than ever. The story continues as a retcon from that point - in a world where death takes corporeal form, parallel universes exist, we already have a year that never was, and explanations are sketchy at best, they can find some rationale for the change of timeline. Gray comes back and has a really cool story - maybe homicidal crazy at first, but he gets fixed, has a warm reunion with Jack, and goes back to the future to take care of the family farm in Boeshane. Captain John sticks around. Assuming Owen is dead, he can take over Owen's role as gadfly, and the role of Torchwood Doctor is taken by Rupesh Patanjali, who doesn't arrange to have Jack blown up, but flirts with him instead.
