It snowed all day.
  • Breakfast: oatmeal with [livejournal.com profile] maaseru. We had to work out some financial business, which finally got done, after much puzzlement and torment over simple arithmetic.
  • Lunch: [livejournal.com profile] lunacy_gal joined us for lunch at the Vietnamese Kitchen on Bank near Hopewell - the place that used to be the Pe-Nan Wok. It was a bit disorienting to see the interior changed around, but the food was delicious.
  • Afternoon: Funeral for Iris Brown. A very standard religious funeral, that got me thinking about a conversation I once had with someone about a funeral set up by the Humanist Society. I was thinking this sounded pretty cool.
  • Later afternoon: Went back to my place with [livejournal.com profile] lunacy_gal and [livejournal.com profile] gamergrrl, knitted (oh God, I'm hopeless!) and talked. I made supper - garlic shrimp on spaghetti with vegetables.
  • It transpired that [livejournal.com profile] gamergrrl had not seen The Man from U.N.C.L.E. since the 1960s, and [livejournal.com profile] lunacy_gal had never seen it. That had to be rectified! We watched episode 1x06, "The Green Opal Affair". We all loved it - and I was a little nervous that [livejournal.com profile] lunacy_gal might not like it, but my fears were unfounded: the show remains pure gold. I'd never seen this episode before. Illya isn't in it much - the beginning and the end, but he doesn't share the mission with Napoleon. But he's utterly sexy in the scenes he does appear in, and Napoleon is quite wonderful. Interesting that the "ordinary housewife" who shares the action with him is happily married, and there's no flirtation between them, or anything more.
  • Evening: [livejournal.com profile] gamergrrl and I went to the Apaplexy collation at StarWolf's place. We collated and talked. I got a wonderful suprise present of tarot cards from Beulah, a gift conveyed by Vince. I was thrilled. There was a new person there, a friend of 'Wolf who is joining the apa - she seems terrific.
  • Loved the DVD that StarWolf had playing on his television - Zen Garden.

Napoleon was actually a lot less of a slut than he's remembered as, especially in the beginning. In later seasons he was often poked about it by Illya and Waverly, but he really was quite reasonable, avoided flirting when inappropriate (married, young, or actually innocent), and even when he did it was mostly in moderation. At least one time I can think of he flirted against Waverly's orders and as a direct result saved the day. I have this theory that Napoleon's penis was a compass for truth and goodness, or something like that; even when he slept with evil, it was always for the good, at the end.

a slut and a gentleman

That's a beautiful sentiment. And such nice icon text!

no doubt I idealize him too much

I don't think so, actually. He was a sweetheart.

I'll do what I want with him. Er, fictionally speaking.

I encourage that. With emphasis. Big encouragingness.
