The 30 Days of Marvel meme:
Day #24: Your favourite cartoon adaptation.
Don't have one. I don't like TV cartoons - Japanese anime is sometimes fine.
It isn't just that the stories and characterization are usually simplified, while I prefer more complexity. It's that I'm a fan of comics, of the graphic narrative form, with still drawings, panels, word ballons, and printed format. Take that away, put it on the screen, make it move, and it isn't comics any more. They aren't interchangeable. The live action movies aren't the same, either, and some of them make me cringe. Others turn out to be good movies in their own right.
And I really, really hate the voices they give the characters in the cartoons. They don't sound like real voices to my ear, they're exaggerated, stilted, and they grate. They're enough to drive me away even if I liked the rest. The only exception I can think of is that Chris Potter did a decent voice and accent for Gambit in the early X-Men cartoons. Even though I seldom watched, then, that gets my choice as 'favourite'.

I don't know whether this picture is from that series of cartoons - but it is Gambit.
