Fandom Meme
- Your main fandom of the year?
- Your favourite film watched this year?
- Your favourite book read this year?
A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner. A brilliant book which everyone should read - but they should read The Thief, The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia first. In that order.- Your favourite album or song to listen to this year?
Anything by My Chemical Romance, or by John Barrowman.- Your favourite TV shows of the year?
Fringe, White Collar, The Good Wife, Castle- Your favourite LJ community of the year?
scans_daily, which is now on Dreamwidth.- Your best new TV discovery of the year?
My best rediscovery was The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. My surprise pleasure was The Good Wife.- Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
That there was no Torchwood at all, and that Captain Jack Harkness never appeared in Doctor Who.
Also, it was a disappointment to me that I didn't enjoy Doctor Who as much as previous years, except for one or two episodes. I wanted to love it, but it just wasn't there for me.- Your TV boyfriend of the year?
Peter Burke in White Collar and/or Peter Bishop in Fringe. Last year was the year for Jacks. This was a year for Peters.
My favourite fannish love was Daken Akihiro, from the comics Dark Wolverine and Daken: Dark Wolverine.
- Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Olivia Dunham. Followed closely by Astrid Farnsworth. With a nod to Elizabeth Burke along the way. And a sort of sidways glance at Parker from Leverage.- Your biggest squee moment of the year?
When Daken kissed Bullseye on the battlefield in Marvel's Siege storyline.
Or perhaps the revelation in White Collar that Neal Caffrey wanted to pursue his life with Peter Burke (and Elizabeth) rather than leave with Kate.
Or the scenes in X-Factor when it became clear that Shatterstar wanted to stay with Rictor - especially the moment when Rahne walked in on them.- The most missed of your old fandoms?
Torchwood, or the Ninth or Tenth Doctors in Doctor Who, or the inclusion of Captain Jack in either.- The TV show you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Sons of Anarchy.- Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
Fringe, White Collar, but most of all, The Game of Thrones.
In some ways, it feels as if I had a year without a fandom. I still love Torchwood but it isn't on, and the American thing coming up doesn't feel immediate, and doesn't feel like Torchwood. Maybe it will, but that in the future, not now.
My favourite show of the year has been Fringe, but I feel no urge to write Fringe fic, and it doesn't seem to have much of a presence here.
White Collar is close to a fandom, in that I've been reading the slash, and loving the characters. But I'm not writing it.
TV is often not my main fandom interest, and right now I'm feeling pretty excited over comics.
...The Tempest, I guess. I saw hardly any movies this year. Of those I did see, none but that really stand out.
