Recently I read, and don't remember where, that it was good for the health to go out for a walk every day throughout the winter. The idea terrified me and I dismissed it at once - and promptly told myself that a fear of icy conditions wasn't healthy either, and I should give it a try. Especially since we had a little bit of sunshine, even though it has been snowing most of the day.

It turned out to be bitterly gold, but beautiful. By the time I had my boots and coat on it was no longer sunny, and snowing again.

Photos of the day:

1. Stones in snow.

This is basically the same picture as the one I took on November 23, posted here - in with changed conditions.

2. Trees.

These are the trees to the east of my apartment building, towards the Rideau Canal.

3. The canal in snow.

Looking towards the Rideau Canal, from the side of the apartment building.

4. Blue lights (unlit) on the hedge beside the apartment building, looking at the houses across the street.

5. This is one of the houses across the street - one of the houses I see when I look out my front window.

6. A tree heavy with snow.

7. A snowplough wends its way down the street as dusk falls.

8. Red balls on a tree further down the street. This is in front of a house we often refer to as "the ugly house" because, unlike the others on the street, it is square and modern. But they have a good tree.

9. The view from the corner closest to me to the east.

10. Remember the bicycle I photographed on November 23? Here it is again, covered in snow.

11. Another bicycle, parked by its shed.

12. The house of red bows, further down the street.
