Bristol...
Oct. 18th, 2010 05:04 amI'm in Bristol now. Arrived last night just in time for the John Barrowman concert at the Hippodrome. Enjoyed it very much indeed, especially when he sang Spider-Man. I love it that he's such a fanboy.
I didn't have net access in Rye, and sadly, my laptop was damaged in transit between France and England. If you're reading this, then I can post, but I do it without much confidence. My monitor screen is a mess. Usable, barely, but horribly broken.
Rye was amazing. At some point I'll manage to post about it. A lot of the fun was in talking with Dunnett friends (ones who weren't in Paris), but there were other wonderful events and unexpected joys. Like living in a house built in 1540 in which the trees in the back garden were mulberries planted in honour of Elizabeth I, who visited Rye, to the obvious delight of the inhabitants of the time.
And eating - twice - in the house where John Fletcher was born and lived. You know, John Fletcher, who was a friend of Shakespeare, and wrote plays with him? Fangirl heaven.
And I saw the famous crimson costume Ellen Terry wore as Portia in The Merchant of Venice. Gorgeous.
