Odd day. Woke up without a headache and felt good about that, but the headache came back - along with the coughing - whenever I walked around or tried to do anything. So I alternately napped, read, did arm exercises watching television, and napped. Feel much better this evening.
Booked our Eurostar trip to London. Yay! Now, I'm wondering if it will be possible to visit any of my friends in southern England... especially the southwest. Not that I'll have much time, but it would be fun...
I feel so disorganized.
Anyway, today I read The Immortal Game by Mark Coggins. I wasn't bored, but I was a little disappointed. I'd hoped (foolish me) to find a new Raymond Chandler or Robert B. Parker, but didn't. It was all a little too full of crime noir set pieces and one-dimensional characters; there are only two interesting things about the hero, his name (Auguste Riordon) and his music (jazz). Otherwise he was just a private eye chiche. And yes, I guessed the killer back in chapter one, though not the motive.
Still. Not so bad to read when you've got a cold and don't feel like anything substantial.
Also read Avengers: The Initiative Disassembled, which is one of the series of comics leading up to the Dark Reign storyline - yup, I'm still reading things backwards, and thinking, "Oh, so that's how that happened.." Yeah, set-up. The initiative brings us back to all sorts of old second-tier heroes, villains, and bystanders who became significant in Dark Reign, and I found I most enjoyed the bits in which Norman Osborn appeared. When did I come to like him? With Dark Reign, I guess! I also liked the parts about Tigra's pregnancy, as I'd already read the story where she turned up with a baby, and I wondered how it came about. Now I know.
Watched Lost Girl 1x03 and enjoyed it very much, especially learning Dyson's power; I'm so glad they haven't stopped the scenes of Bo making out with women. And The Good Wife 2x01, "Taking Control". I don't think Alicia is taking any kind of control at all - but I thoroughly enjoyed the story.
