For the past month The Comic Book Shoppe has been having a sale on back issues. Armed with my list of Daken appearances, I went over there by bus and tried to buy the issues in which he appears. I know some of them will have only token apparances of Daken, but it will be fun to read them all as a sort of Marvel sampling. So far, stories written about Daken that are not by Daniel Way and Marjorie Liu, are rather odd - other writers seem to be unsure what to do with the character - though Brian Michael Bendis has had some great bits, not so much featuring Daken, but about him from the point of view of others - such as the lovely scene in which the other (legitimate) Avengers learned that Wolverine had a son. "You have a kid?" Clint asks Logan, incredulous. "You had sex?" asks Spider-Man.

So I had fun hunting for the comics, though holding the increasingly-heavy pile in my damaged left arm was problematic, and several times, with their slippery plastic bags, I dropped them all on the floor and had to pick them up. No matter.

After a few more errands and a few long spells of waiting at cold and boring bus stops, I went to the Civic hospital to visit bunsen_h. I don't think I could have been very good company, but I enjoyed relaxing and chatting with him, and I even got to meet his father for a couple of minutes before I left.
