A cold and snowy night....

I updated my walking mileage today: I have now walked 387 miles of the way from Rivendell to Minas Tirith. A good six miles today, as I walked after work to a restaurant near the corner of Bronson and Somerset, where I was meeting Marcelle for dinner.

It's called "Sushi 88" and it was delicious. I had a couple of california rolls, the vegetable tempura main dish, and half a plate of eel thingumees which were among the most delicious things I ever had. Eels - who'd have guessed? The only eel dish I had ever had before was jellied eels bought from an outdoor vendor at Covent Garden in London - not the same sort of culinary experience at all. I remember them as being cold, slimy and vaguely tasteless.

These eels were sublime. Actually, all the food was sublime. What a wonderful place. Friendly staff, too.

I got to the restaurant just in time, as a snowstorm was gathering behind me. I'd worried a little about being blown off my feet, and burst into the place as a haven from the storm.

This is an evening to stay in and stay warm.

Not fair! We didn't get a single flake! Colder than a witch's tit in a brass brasiere though.

Maybe it was a brief squall just confined to Somerset Ave? It happened - Marcelle will attest - her car was covered with snow!
And the wind was utterly fierce for a bit.

/me nods re the biting wind -- we had that here, started in the late morning and just kept going frigid.

And the inlaws had snow and they were staying closer into the city. That happens a lot with the rain -- Andrew doesn't work all that far from here and it can be pouring where he is and not a drop of rain out here.

It's nice walking weather, though bitter on the ears and nose-tip. I'm thankful for gloves.

Ottawa's weather is not only diverse, it's changeable - especially this time of year. I like that, but it can be inconvenient.

Eel! I love eel; unagi is my favourite sushi. Yum! Very glad you've discovered its joys.

*sigh* In the 70s again today, here. Beats the 80s, I suppose!

Too bad we can't find some sort of compromise on the weather. No snow today; it's sunny and nice, though cool. (Slightly below freezing, I think.)

It's hard to know what to wear in this weather.

There is of course no 'right' answer. One either dresses for the cold weather and prepares to be warm sometimes, or dresses for the milder weather and prepares to be cold sometimes.

It doesn't help that I tend to be too cold rather than too warm; I usually dress for the cold and cope with the warm bits.
