A lovely long rainy day....
Nov. 2nd, 2003 09:34 pmI got back from Toronto. Had a marvellous time. Dead tired now. Highlights:
- Eddie Izzard's show, Sexie, which is an interesting title given that none of his jokes were about sex. Very funny: wonderful encore about being in a cowboy movie on a runaway horse, good bits about the Odyssey, terrorism, and customs officers. I've never seen a staighter audience - I wonder why.
Coming out of the Music Hall Theatre, it looked like a wall enclosing the sidewalk, but it was just the truck come to collect the show. - Brunch with the Dorothy Dunnett crowd. What a great bunch of people. Tina brought her photographs of the Gathering in Scotland in 2000, which some people hadn't seen. I borrowed Alastair Dunnett's autobiography, Among Friends.
- Browsing in Winners and seeing Christmas tree ornaments shaped like little teapots.
- The stunning exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum on Art Deco. (The Egyptian rooms were, of course, wonderful as always, though darker than usual because of renovations.)
- Eating with Marcelle, Patti, Linda, Satya and Sarah at the Bombay Palace.
- Reading Catwoman and X-Men comics in the hotel room. And Eddie Izzard mentioned both!
- Long, rainy drive home spent listening to Q is for Quarry .
