There is something immensely satisfying about taking more than 30 bags of clothes to the Salvation Army drop-off box (affectionately known as the Dalek) and seeing them go down the shute.

What really makes it delightful is the knowledge that all those clothes are too big for me because I lost so much weight. It's a thrill.

Hee hee!

I just did that too! Went to the consignment store down the street. If I sell all the clothes, I should make $90!

Doesn't it feel just deliciously satisfying?

I've been having a clear out too. I just dropped off a pile of clothes, CDs, books, nick-naks to a charity shop. Although my house still looks cluttered. I seem to have collected too many things over the years.

It's so easy to accumulate things - especially when there are so many things I like. (Let's not get into the topic of this tiny apartment with thousands of comic books stashed in it!) I'm working on the decluttering and so far, so good. Books are the really tricky part.

I struggled with my books too, they are so hard to part with. Even though you suspect you'll never open it agian, let alone read it, there's a small part that whispers "you might". In the end, I just parted with some old out-of-date text books, and books I have more than one copy of. Although that still has't even begun to make a dent in my bookselves.

I think the problem, or at least part of it, is that books have personality, like people. To get rid of one (to reject it) is to get rid of much more than a small, portable object. It's a whole experience - regardless of the nature or quality of that experience, but all the more so when the memory of the book is good.

Anyway, I think they multiply in the dark when I'm not looking.

Yeah! The diet is paying off - it feels so good. I guess all this exercise might have something to do with it too.
