Beulah and Lionel arrived about 10 am to dismantle my bed. Well, her bed. Then [livejournal.com profile] josanpq arrived to pick up books and generally help. The bed was out the door (and my shelving all moved to the giveaway ara in the basement) just as the furniture delivery truck arrived, and simultaneously [livejournal.com profile] explodedteabag turned up, too, because she got a new bed frame.

My bedroom is now delightfully empty, with a Full bed replacing the Queen, a lovely bedside table on loan from Beulah, and all the mess piled on top of the dresser and in one corner. I'll work on that tomorrow.

While doing arm and hand exercises, I watched:

1. Memphis Beat 1x01, "It's All Right, Mama" - Another cop show, set guess-where, and I really enjoyed it. Thoroughly. Even though it was about a subject that generally squicks me (abuse of the elderly), I liked the plot. I laughed at the jokes - particularly the scene where our homicide cop hero, Dwight Hendricks, is playing with Barbie Dolls in pursuit of information. Leading eventually to a wonderful conversation that went something like this:
Lieutenant Tanya Rice: Your witness are unreliable.
Dwight: My witnesses are sound -
Lieutenant Tanya Rice: A blind man and a little girl? And he isn't even sure?
Dwight: Tamara is rock solid.
Lieutenant Tanya Rice: She's eight years old.
I loved the way Dwight was so kind to the old lady, and so dedicated to the case, even though Tanya kept taking him off it. I also liked the counterpoint of Dwight's mother's romance with her neighbour, and I loved, absolutely loved, the surprise revelation at the end revealing so much more about Dwight, and Tanya.

I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this.

2. The Good Wife 1x08, "Unprepared" - Usually I judge TV shows by how much I like or love the characters, and I'm still not sure I like anyone in this one. But I love the plots and the main themes, I'm fascinated by the story, enthralled by the good writing, and enjoying seeing where the story leads us. in short, i love it even tough i don't love the characters, and that may be a first.

I don't undrestand why Zach and Grace don't tell their mother about the mystery envelopes and the evidence against their father; is it just because they are teenagers, and therefore secretive? Or do they fear Alicia doesn't want to help Peter?

I loved the way they discovered and proved who the guilty part was in this episode: put their key witness on the stand and let him incriminate himself.

In the evening, I watched White Collar 2x02, "Need to Know". Loved it totally. I'd say more, except I'm tired and my hand hurts. Maybe I'll talk about it more tomorrow, or next time I watch it.

Time now to sleep on my nice new bed.

I think Zach and Grace were actually trying to protect their mother from having to see that stuff.
