The Watcher...

I watched the first episode of Fringe again today, because Marion and Vicky hasdn't seen the show. maaseru told me that an Observer (or a Watcher) appears in every episode; knowing that, I was alert enough to see the very-easy-to-miss appearance of an Observer in episode one. I'd seen some subtle inclusions in many episodes, but... all of them? By no means.



Fringepedia lists appearances of the Watcher: I wonder if the list is complete? i like the "Where's Baldo?" quote.

I was interested to see that Fox put this compendium of Observer appearances on YouTube; but it only covers earlier episodes. Also found here and - with later episodes included - here.

Interesting that he isn't wearing a hat in most of these. Seems this particular Watcher's name is September. I wonder why. Does this imply there are twelve of them? How does the feral boy-Watcher fit in? Will he ever appear again in the show? Do they bear any relationship to the alternate universe? They don't seem to.

I love the Watchers. (References to Methos would be, at this point, redundant.) I also love it that the Watcher has appeared outside the show.

Since the Watchers remind me of the Watcher in Fantastic Four, I was amused to see Fringe cited in the Wikipedia article about him - under "miscellaneous", at the end.
