There were predictions of rain, so
maaseru and I didn't go to the wee bothy as planned. I was disappointed, but perhaps it was for the best, as we were both extremely tired - and so was
explodedteabag, too. Of course it didn't rain one drop. Why do we ever believe weather reports? It was cool and reasonably sunny all day.
So instead of going out of town, we all went out in our red t-shirts and white trousers (a white skirt in
explodedteabag's case) to have lunch at the Lone Star Cafe. It was delightful; ribs and chicken wings for me, and enough left over for supper. I actually wanted a steak, but knew I had no hope in hell of cutting a steak with one hand. Before leaving, we watched the Queen on TV - arriving at Parliament Hill in a landau, dressed in red and white, with full honour guard, and then watched a Quebec rap group. IU always make a point of seeing the Queen at Christmas - it's fun to see her in July, too.
I actually managed to put on a t-shirt for the first time since I broke my elbow. It felt so normal!
At noon, we saw the
Snowbirds fly overhead.
After lunch, we went to
maaseru's place ad settled down for some serious marathon
Fringe viewing. from the middle of the second season, which
explodedteabag hadn't seen yet. After supper, we watched the new movie
Solomon Kane - I wanted to see it because I loved the character in the Marvel comics, based on the Robert E. Howard character - an English Puritan who fights demons.
The plot wasn't much, but it had great cinematography and effects, and some actors (besides James Purefoy) I was happy to see - Pete Postlethwaite, Alice Krige, and Mackenzie Crook, among others.
explodedteabag and I felt the setting was more like Westeros than England in 1600, and we laughed at bits blatantly stolen from
Lord of the Rings. Well - if you're going to teal, steal from the best.
Then we watched the fireworks on Parliament Hill from
maaseru's balcony. Beautiful as always.
I did my hand/arm exercises, hating it, but enduring.
