A great day so far...
Jun. 30th, 2010 04:04 pmI got out. Outside!
First, I got a visit from
Also got a very welcome phone call from Pat in Grimsby, one of the most beautiful people I know. She isn't going to Paris but we agreed to meet in Istanbul in 2012 - if not in Toronto much sooner.
The my friend John from Toronto came for a visit - I haven't seen him for six years. We went for lunch at the Canal Ritz - I rashly ordered pizza, and then John had to cut it for me. While eating, we saw the Queen being driven by, along Colonel By Drive. Sparrows and a red-winged blackbird came to our table, looking for handouts - we were eating outside.
Afterwards, we went for a walk along the canal - it was beautiful, with rushes in the duck pond as high as my head, and sunlight on the water.
Then I had to take the paratranspo ride to the rehab unit of the Riverside Hospital. At the hospital, someone was selling summer clothes - batik rayon - that were exactly what I need right now, so I bought two shirts and a pair of matching trousers.
My physiotherapist said I have to take the brace off my arm twice a day - something I've been avoiding because it's so difficult to wrap it up with one hand. But if I have to, I have to. She said the little finger particularly needs work and, if anything, has regressed and stiffened more. (But I have a little feeling in it now!) I have lots and lots of exercises to do twice daily or more - for the fingers, the hand, the shoulder, the wrist, and even the new elbow joint itself.
Scary. But I can do it. I can. I must.
