I had a moment of panic yesterday. I went to Denny's for brunch with [livejournal.com profile] maaseru, Lil, and her mother. Reached into my purse and there was no wallet. No money. No cards.

I tried to think where it might be. I'd last seen it on going to the ATM Saturday afternoon. Definitely had it then. I might have left it in [livejournal.com profile] maaseru's car, but she and Lil had cleaned it out entirely, and they would have seen it. I didn't use it at Tasia's at all - don't even know if it was in my purse then, since I had no need to look in my purse. Might have gone anywhere, if it had fallen out. Might be at [livejournal.com profile] maaseru's place, but not in any obvious place. Might be in Beulah's car - she drove me home from Tasia's.

So I phoned Beulah, and actually woke her up. But she graciously went and checked the car, and found the wallet, where it had fallen in a place that was hard to see. Must have been, since it isn't the kind of wallet that easily disappears: it's bright turquoise and has pictures of the Tenth Doctor and Daleks on it.

After a quick trip to Montreal, [livejournal.com profile] maaseru and I picked it up from Beulah. It was a little odd, being in a different city without a penny, but it was also oddly liberating.

It was a good weekend, even if it didn't generally go as I'd planned. The trip to Montreal was unexpected, but not unpleasant, and in a good cause. I got a good start on my project of putting all my fanfic online. I was discouraged on Saturday because the first story took about six hours to convert and post, all by itself; but everything since has been much easier. I've found a lot of stories I'd thought were lost, too.

When I come to the end of the things I have in electronic form, and scattered online, I'll have to start transcribing copies. I don't seem to have my first Pros novel, Sand Castle. Or my collaboration, Classified. Retyping a short story is daunting enough. Retyping novels? Erk. It wouldn't be easy to scan, either.

And it seems a lot of my Legion of Super-Heroes stories are lost to posterity, unless I can borrow back copies of the LSH apazines. I was quite thrilled to find the LSH story where I'd rewritten an adventure from the comic as a translation of epic Anglo-Saxon verse. I suspect there are only about two fans anywhere who found it even vaguely readable, but it fills a warm space in my heart.

I work obsessively on the fanfic project on Saturday for about twelve hours. Forgot to move from the computer. Forgot to eat. Those who know me know how rare that is.

And with all that, and the expedition to Montreal, I didn't get a chance to watch even one episode of Fringe, which I'd really hoped to to.

Rats.

Maybe tonight.
