What a great morning! I didn't get up early - in fact, I fell asleep again after Stephen Fry woke me up - so it wasn't an early start that did it. When I finally rolled out of bed, I washed dishes (both by hand and in the dishwasher), did a full set of back exercises, cleaned up the living room, threw out the trash, hung up clothes that were on my bedroom chair, made the bed, wrote a cheque, printed 8 pages of my apazine, fed the birds, got ready for work and left early enough to walk to the TD bank at Elgin and Somerset to do my weekly banking, and then went to Jim's Cafe for a breakfast of bacon and eggs. After being off work for six months because of a broken hip, Jim (whose name is actually Ahmed) is back at work - but standing up as little as possible.

Managed to read the Arts section of yesterday's newspaper over breakfast, and still got to work on time.

I am mighty. Let's hope that isn't the end of my productivity for the day.

I also read an article in that paper about how important it is to have a healthy heart - yes, we all agree on that! - and that in order to have a healthy heart you probably really have to do thirty minutes of activity at least, most days of the week, and no excuses.

Whew. Okay, I think I'm covered with walking to and from work (thirty minutes each way, five days per week) but in the average schedule, that's tough to find time for. I'm not counting my back exercises and yoga, because the article was dealing purely with aerobic stuff - and I'm not sure of the value of weights in that regard. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure of the value of weights - I just dont' think it counts to that thirty minutes.

Must make a point of still walking daily when my job comes to an end. Or doing that treadmill thing. Boring. I love walking out of doors, but I've found nothing that makes the treadmill more exciting, not even really good audio books or music.
