Saturday...
Apr. 10th, 2010 10:58 pmA good day.
Started early, doing some of my back exercises before being joined at 8 a.m. by my personal trainer - and I love saying that almost as much as I love talking about my landlord in Paris. (I must be living someone else's life; I don't get to have these things, really. Do I?)
It's been a while since I had a session with Lynne, but I lost my notebook in which I'd listed all the exercises she had me doing with weights, and she came back to do it with me all over again. And we ended up changing most of it, and for the first time I found it was fun. Challenging, but really fun. I'm going to do a whole session by myself tomorrow, and see how long it takes me. And then maybe do partial bits through the week, when I have less time.
After the weight-training session, we went to a nearby restaurant on Bank Street, The Corner, for breakfast. I had a "New York Bennie" without the English muffin, because I've stopped eating wheat. (It's Eggs Benedict with smoked meat instead of ham.) We talked about Europe and what's going on in our lives - really, it was great. I was left feeling I should make a point of getting together with Lynne more often. We are, I feel, sympatico.
I then did all my weekend errands (bank, groceries, buying some party decorations, returning library books). After that, went out to lunch with
And I must still be bothered by allergies, because, though I don't feel bad at all, I get sudden bouts of extreme fatigue. So that when I got home after lunch, I fell asleep, sound and hard, like it or not.
In the evening, Vicky and Marion came over and we celebrated Vicky's birthday with more Chinese food, this time take-out from Pe-Nan Wok. For dessert, I got a cheesecake, so I could partake without risking wheat, which is probably just as well, because she's managed to have birthday cake at three different gatherings already this week. Vicky is the only person I know who is even more of a Peter Wingfield fan than I am - imagining that such a thing is possible - so having a birthday celebration watching him in Riverworld was particularly appropriate.
Also spent a little time working on French, though not as much as I'd wanted or hoped. I've been listening to the rap group Loco Locass, recommended by Claire, my French teacher. And I love their songs. I just wish I understood the lyrics better. This is going to take work!
