Food, glorious food...
Oct. 16th, 2003 06:56 pmOkay: I've reached day 3 back on my ayurvedic diet without a slip. No hint of forbidden dairy products, forbidden meats, sugar, coffee, chocolate, additives, or wheat. And you know what? I'm enjoying it. A lot.
The usual pattern: I can follow the diet for weeks, but it gets more difficult as I go, especially when I socialize with other people eating normally - which of course I always do. Then I start to slip up. It's okay, of course, my Ayurvedic diet isn't meant to be grim. But... a half cup of coffee here, a piece of toast there.... Allowing myself one forbidden substance per week, then twice a week, then each day, and eventually I give up entirely and eat whatever I want.
Hopefully I can keep going for a while here. I will occasionally decree a holiday from the diet, and it's difficult to follow the diet carefully while travelling without spending a fortune.
Meanwhile... supper was delicious. I hope I go on thinking this. I wonder if I'll ever get tired of rice.

In an interesting coincidence (must be the moon? the change of seasons?) I too have gone back onto my common-sense diet in the past few days: lots of apples, pears, carrots, and water; very light on the meat and sweets and fast food. And exercise. Which I'm finding makes my aches go away, and gives me wonderful energy.
Keep going. Just keep going. I know you can do it.
